An exciting opportunity has become available to work as a Content Design Lead for one of our high profile clients based in either London or Sheffield.

The post holder will work closely with user researchers, service designers and interaction designers to make sure users get the right content in the right place and in the best format.


You’ll work as as a senior content designer on digital services, while providing expertise and consultancy across the portfolio. Day to day you’ll:

  • work with the the portfolio team and head of content design to identify requirements for further content resource
  • contribute to standards and patterns for the whole department and to the wider content design community
  • use the right framework to solve problems and lead team in the right direction
  • communicate with senior stakeholders, advocating a user centred approach
  • run stakeholder workshops to set expectations of standards and ways of working
  • provide hands on support and design content as required
  • use analytics, feedback, user research and other sources of information to draw up proposals for content principles, improvements and patterns
  • collaborate with the head of content design on cross government projects
  • work with stakeholders to understand their issues while maintaining content quality

Essential skills and experience

You’ll be a content expert with extensive writing and editing experience and proven ability to:

  • lead and manage a content team
  • design content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand
  • understand and implement style and standards with rigorous attention to detail
  • use data and research to identify precise user needs and inform content strategy and decisions
  • convince stakeholders to take a user-centred approach, based on evidence
  • understand the wider implications and long term impact of business issues and activities
  • enable rapid delivery using iterative methods and a flexible approach in a fast paced evolving environment
  • apply an agile mindset through all aspects of your work, like planning, design, management and execution
  • co-ordinate a number of projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
  • work to tight deadlines and under pressure
