Audit Investigator

We are currently recruiting for an Audit Investigator for the NSFP team for Hackney Council.

Full time | Monday to Friday | 9:00 am to 5:00 pm | £20.00 per hour

Purpose of role:

To assist the Head of Investigations in providing an investigation service into cases of fraud, irregularity and malpractice throughout all departments of the council or any designated external body arising as a result of Audit activity or from matters, which have been reported to the Assistant Director Audit & Anti Fraud.

Duties and skills include but not limited to:

  • To carry out all aspects of investigative work on individual cases ranging through formal interviewing, obtaining of witness statements, report production, police liaison and attendance at disciplinary meetings/court/employment tribunals.
  • To provide advice and assistance to the Internal Audit Investigations Team in the use of investigative techniques when carrying out project work.
  • Producing internal audit reports and case summaries in a variety of formats including graphical/statistical analysis and other computer based techniques to advise and direct management.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Experience of Blue Badge fraud and No Recourse to Public Funds investigations would be an advantage
  • Experience of fraud investigation or similar discipline
  • Recognised anti-fraud qualification e.g. ACFS, PINS 1-7 and/or PINS 9 or equivalent (CIPFA)
  • Familiarity with a wide range of statutory and regulative requirements, that impact of the work of Internal Audit i.e. Data Protection, P.A.C.E Act, Human Rights Act, R.I.P.A etc.
  • A recognised qualification in counter fraud studies is essential (Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or equivalent) and/or good practical experience to the standards required.
  • Proven experience working at a senior level within an internal audit and counter fraud arena in the public sector.
