Senior NHS Administrator

Sellick Partnership are recruiting on behalf of an established NHS client in West Yorkshire, for an experienced NHS Senior Administrator, working on providing a comprehensive administrative service to support and cover the multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the effective management of accurate and timely decision making. The post holder will coordinate, proactively manage and track patients against the National Cancer Waiting Times Standards.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Administrator:

  • Coordination and management of meetings, ensuring that dates and venues for weekly meetings are booked for the full year
  • Ensuring that cancer patients are tracked and highlighted for discussion at meetings, when results etc. are available, at appropriate parts in patient pathways to ensure they are treated within target
  • Ensuring that case notes, diagnostic test results, x-rays, audio/visual equipment etc are available for each patient
  • Ensuring that an attendance register is kept, preforms outlining patient treatment options/decisions are completed
  • Record patient information from data recording systems where necessary
  • Ensure all 2 week wait referred patients are tracked following their first outpatient appointment
  • Ensure all non-two week wait patients, diagnosed with cancer but picked through incidental findings or other routes, are entered onto the database so that progress against all 31 day pathways can be tracked and achieved
  • Work closely with consultants, specialist nurses, managerial, clerical and other staff to deliver a coordinated, consistent tracking and information service that achieves targets
  • Highlight to speciality and directorate management team for escalation, those patients whose progress is likely to fall outside the agreed timescales and will need action to bring back into target

Required skills and experience of the Senior Administrator:

  • Knowledge of the care pathways, cancer wait time standards and the successful management of patients, within targets, on these pathways
  • Understanding of definitions and reporting requirements of the cancer standards and waiting times
  • Application of data protection and patient confidentiality policies
  • Ability to accurately transcribe and record complex medical information to the database for tracking and monitoring purposes
  • Ability to cope with distressing and emotional nature of the work when dealing with sensitive situations, involving patients and family
  • Excellent organisation skills, ability to prioritise workload, multi-task, meet deadlines and use escalation processes where appropriate
  • NHS experience, within a role of a similar capacity
