Procurement Lead – Barrow-In-Furness – 6 month contract - £34.98 per hour LTD

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement lead to work for a major defence contractor based in Barrow-in-Furness. Candidates with experience of Supply Chain Transformation Projects are highly desirable for this role. The successful candidate will be required to undergo SC level security checks for this role therefore candidates with current SC clearance will have a distinct advantage.

Experience and knowledge of the defence sector is highly beneficial


  • Delivering and taking ownership of Supply Chain's Transformation plan
  • Delivering and taking ownership of both business as usual and functional Transformation activities (eg Lean and Six Sigma Projects, LfE and Process Improvement)
  • Collaborating functionally and cross functionally on Continuous Improvement and change projects and initiatives
  • Developing functional capability through training, coaching and mentorship in tools, techniques and best practice
  • Providing subject matter expertise (Continuous Improvement principles in a Supply Chain environment)
  • Gathering data, reporting and conducting analysis, presenting to provide progress/management updates on current performance

Skills and experience:

  • Continuous Improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, Hoshin Planning, Total Quality Management, Kaizen, Visual Management/Visual Factory, Process Improvement/Performance Management, Operational Excellence, Learning from Experience)
  • Root cause problem solving
  • Presentation and facilitation experience
  • High computer literacy (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Project, Visio)
  • End to end knowledge of supply chain
  • Mentorship and coaching, technical and behavioural competency is desirable
  • Experience of data management and reporting is desirable
  • Understanding and knowledge of change management highly desirable
  • Understanding of defence industry is distinctly advantageous
