Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting a Band 8a Senior Management Accountant for a large NHS organisation in the South Yorkshire area.

Job Purpose for the Band 8a Senior Management Accountant:

  • To provide a pro-active, comprehensive and high quality management accounting service to Specialties and to the Finance Department
  • To be responsible for the senior finance support for one Clinical Division or all Corporate Specialties
  • To take forward complex financial issues facing specialties
  • To lead on external training

Key principal duties and responsibilities for the Band 8a Senior Management Accountant:

  • To mentor, develop and coach management/trainee accountant(s).
  • To take forward complex financial issues facing specialities
  • Work as part of the Division Management Team advising on Care Group and Corporate financial issues
  • Business planning and costing.
  • Ensure that relevant asset utilisation, financial, capacity and activity issues are appropriately reflected in business plans and development proposals
  • Along with the Income and PLICs Teams identify the financial consequences of; business cases, the modernisation of services, in year activity performance.
  • Work with the Income Team and the Division to prepare plans to address forecast under-recovery of income.
  • Financial and capacity modelling of the impact of changes in costs and activity
  • Develop a detailed understanding of key cost drivers and cost behaviour
  • Preparation of reference costs for specialities
  • Work with Divisions to ensure the effective and efficient use of available resources.
  • Provision of accurate and clear financial reports.
  • Project work
  • Carry out bed modelling work, capacity planning and theatre modelling
  • Lead the financial analysis for associated business cases, tenders and contract reviews.
  • Preparation of revenue budgets
  • To participate in the provision of training in respect of financial issues to budget holders

Requirements for the Senior Management Accountant:

  • Fully qualified
  • Experience in managing change, both systems and staff reorginisations
  • Public Sector experience is NOT essential for this role
