  • *Financial Controller - 6 month contract – up to £380 Umb or £350 PAYE (Inside IR35)- Government-Warwick**

Our client is leading Government organisation based in Warwick who are looking for a Financial Controller

Key Responsibilities:

To provide expert advice and leadership of the financial accounting function, to be responsible for the effective management of cash for the client, ensuring that the cash position is monitored through the maintenance of cash flow forecasts and provide regular updates on the cash position both internally and for external monitoring by client. To ensure that the Client has adequate cash resources available to meet commitments, that staff are aware of cash limitations, and introduce mechanisms to control cash outgoings. To provide advice on VAT issues, liaising with the client’s specialist VAT advisors, and ensuring the maintenance of appropriate VAT accounting records and submission of monthly VAT returns and annual Inland Revenue returns, ensuring all relevant legislation is applied. To manage the production of the CSU’s annual accounts and associated supporting statements, certificates and working papers in accordance with good accounting practice and client guidance and timescales. To manage the sales ledger function, ensuring that an appropriate level of service is provided, and that income is billed and collected in an accurate and timely manner.

To manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring that an appropriate level of service is provided, and that purchase invoices are paid in an accurate and timely manner. To produce the financial accounting aspects of the monthly reporting returns and the monthly financial presentation to the Governing Body. To liaise with budget holders, the corporate management accounts and the commercial finance teams to ensure that all inputs to the ledger including accruals, journals, budget adjustments, sales order requests and forecasts are completed and submitted in line with the reporting timetable. To provide specialist financial accounting support and expertise to other work streams, including the interpretation and presentation of complex, sensitive and potentially contentious information, to support service developments, VFM, benchmarking, tenders and bids. To support the production of the clients financial plan and to lead on and take responsibility for the financial accounting elements of the plan.

Experience required for this role:

Finance management and team management
NHS Public sector experience
Managed an annual accounts process
significant experience in a senior finance role within a complex multi professional organisation and providing advice to Directors.
Strong technical competence and the ability to clearly reconcile own work.
Competence in the use of and interpretation of data from financial systems and Microsoft packages, spreadsheets, ledgers etc.
Experience of successfully managing a financial accounts team.
Experience of designing and monitoring systems of internal control.
Successful liaison with senior management within and outside of own organisation.
Must be able to demonstrate successful management of annual accounts process
