What to expect:

This role sits within the software development centre for Digital Engineering in Manchester and will focus on the software architecture for various elements of the off-board/edge/cloud aspects. be responsible for the production of solution architectures for components of the off-board elements of the digital platform assuring high quality, fit for purpose, solution designs, which meet functional and non-functional requirements.

You will act as the architectural authority elements of the cloud, edge, digital solutions and work closely with the software engineers to ensure implementable architectures can be created. You’ll implement and work with Technical Design Authorities whilst managing architectural risk across their architecture domain and assisting in choice of technology solutions in the support of the domain

You’ll handle the development of strategies and architectures covering all aspects of the product lines, especially reference architectures, and architectural patterns as well as providing subject matter expertise on deployed application technologies to guide the business on how and where technology can be used to address key business processes and emerging requirements.

What you’ll need

We’ll need you to have experience of Java, Cloud Technologies (AWS/GCP), API’s, Microservices architectures, Interaction with mobile environments, Security, Data (Relational/No-SQL) and a proven track record of working with anything related to IoT or connected products or mobile in an agile/DevOps driven software development environment. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, handles change well and can challenge others whilst working effectively with colleagues, vendors and stakeholders. We need someone who is customer focused, self motivated and results oriented who thrives in an environement of continuous improvement.

You will be commercially aware and able to listen, interpret and accurately converse in a clear and open manner, providing timely delivery of information to people at all levels. We need someone who can rapidly pick-up new technologies, propositions and business challenges and can organise and plan work effectively to achieve high quality outcomes sometimes within tight deadlines.

You should have a demonstrable track record in delivering/governing appropriate solutions integrating cross technology solutions covering a variety of technologies with an ability to demonstrate delivery of pragmatic solutions that balance project / programme constraints against strategic direction and, as required, successfully reach agreed compromises with stakeholders.
