Head of Development Management - Lincolnshire - 6 months

My client is a Public Sector company based in Lincolnshire who has an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Development Management to join the Management Team in an initial 6 months interim role.

Ultimately, you will lead and manage the Development Management Section and put in place robust development implementation policies for the business. The aim of the role is to provide professional leadership to ensure the commissioning and delivery of a high quality, efficient and customer focused Development Management Service.

HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement a continuous service wide improvement protocol ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Ensure efficient delivery of the Development Management and Implementation strategies via processes and procedures
  • Co-ordinate and lead in terms of providing expert planning advice
  • Lead and manage staff in order to process, formulate recommendations and make decisions regarding all types of Planning applications
  • Be the lead Planning Officer at the company Development Management Committee
  • Lead on the implementation of a new planning software solution
  • Ensure best practice project and programme management principles are applied to all activities
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality urban design and heritage solutions
  • Deliver an effective land charges service
  • Ensure effective policies and procedures are in place to capture development related funding opportunities
  • Ensure team focus on positive outcomes and deliver an excellent customer service
  • Accountable for all allocated budget

HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

  • Background within Town Planning - ideally a Chartered Town Planner
  • A Management Certification would be highly advantageous
  • Skilled in leading a professional section within a local government environment or a commercial organisation
  • Extensive skills within Development Management and Implementation
  • Skills in cascading deliverables to multiple teams, tracking progress and addressing issues immediately
  • Managing and monitoring multi functional budgets
  • Managing contracts or service level agreements to ensure objectives are met
  • Able to work at a strategic level as well as manage operational service and performance
  • Able to manage change including supporting team in a positive way
  • Takes responsibility for own work and solution focused
  • Responds to customers' needs and learns from feedback to improve customer experience
  • Ability to manage people and resources to ensure priority outcomes are delivered
  • Managing to create a high performing environment
  • Able to develop and implement service strategies and plans that deliver company policies and priorities
  • Able to provide corporate leadership and deliver corporate messages
  • Able to find ways to improve
  • Manages time effectively and delivers against agreed objectives
  • Communicates clearly
